Location
La Dolce Villa Roma is located near the village
of Formello, which is 10 km north of Rome’s Ring Road
(the GRA). Formello is an ancient Etruscan settlement with a
16th century walled citadel surrounded bymodern houses, shops
and restaurants. Like the nearby market towns of Campagnano,
Sacrafano, La Storta and others, it offers concerts and festivals
during the summer time. The Villa is located near Lakes Bracciano
and Martignano both of which offer boating and swimming. It
is also 45 minutes from the Papal city of Viterbo, with its
amazingly therapeutic mud and hot water, mineral baths. Northwards,
the picturesque towns of Umbria are an hour away; Tuscany is
an 1 1⁄2 hours away. To the South, Naples, Sorrento, the
Amalfi Coast and Capri are 2 1⁄2 hours away.
Formello is connected to Rome, its airports and surrounding
region by a modern road system, as well as by public transport.
There are regular buses that pass 500 m from the villa and a
train service from La Storta (ten minutes away) that links up
to Rome’s underground/subway system. However, for maximum
convenience and accessibility to all the region has to offer,
including Rome’s vibrant night life, we recommend that
you have a car.
